Chris at Pet Airways Fort Lauderdale

What do you do? I’m the Fort Lauderdale Lounge Manager, so anything and everything I can do to make pet travel in and out of Fort Lauderdale enjoyable. I take pride in treating your pets like my own!

What’s the best part of your job? I'm very sentimental and love to be part of reuniting families with their pets and helping introduce pets to their new families.

Tell us about your pets. I have Samantha (Sam), a 12-year-old German Shepherd; Jack, a 10-year-old Toy Manchester Terrier; Caramel Macchiatto (Mac), a 1-year-old Maine Coon cat; Ragu, a 6-year-old, three-legged long-haired cat; and Mr. Bigglesworth, an 11-year-old short-haired cat.

What is your pet’s favorite thing to do in your hometown? Anything that involves riding in the car. The minute the leashes come out, Sam starts grinning and wagging and Jack starts to spin in circles!

What is your favorite way to spend a weekend with your pet? Both dogs are ball fanatics! A good game of fetch followed by some cool-down time in the pool.

Favorite place to vacation with your pet? Michigan, where we visit our family and friends (both two- and four-legged).

If you could go anywhere in the world with your pet, where would it be? Lake Michigan and sand dunes in northern Michigan during the summer.

What are your must-pack pet essentials for a day trip or weekend away? Treats and their familiar beds.

If your pet was a movie star, who would they be and why? Since their personalities are one-of-a-kind, it is difficult to assign them a celebrity. However, as much as I'd hate to stereotype them, both dogs would simply wind up on any worst-dressed list due to their penchant for rolling in dead things!

What’s your top pet travel tip? Spend some time before the trip familiarizing your pets with a carrier. Make it a positive experience using their all-time favorite treats. Catnip also works great for the cats.
